Kuari Pass Trek is one of the most scenic Himalayan treks in Uttarakhand, famous for its panoramic mountain views, lush forests, alpine meadows, and peaceful Himalayan landscapes. Also known as the “Curzon Trail,” the trek offers an excellent opportunity to experience the beauty of the Garhwal Himalayas.

The trail passes through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests, vast meadows, traditional mountain villages, and high-altitude ridges. From Kuari Pass, trekkers can enjoy magnificent views of prominent peaks including Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Kamet, Chaukhamba, and Hathi Ghoda.

Itinerary
Day 1: Rishikesh to Joshimath

Distance: 260 km | Drive: 8–9 hours | Altitude: 1,890 m (6,200 ft)
Begin your journey from Rishikesh with a scenic drive through the beautiful Garhwal Himalayas. Enjoy views of rivers, valleys, and mountain villages before reaching Joshimath for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Joshimath to Chitrakhana

Distance: 15 km | Trek: 5–6 hours | Altitude: 2,400 m (7,874 ft)
Start the trek towards Chitrakhana through peaceful forests and beautiful mountain trails. The gradual ascent offers stunning views and prepares you for the higher altitudes ahead.

Day 3: Chitrakhana to Tali Top

Distance: 8 km | Trek: 4–5 hours | Altitude: 3,300 m (10,827 ft)
Trek through dense oak and rhododendron forests towards Tali Top. As you gain altitude, the landscape opens up to beautiful meadows and panoramic Himalayan views.

 

Day 4: Tali Top to Kuari Pass & Back

Distance: 16 km return | Trek: 8–10 hours | Altitude: 3,650 m (11,975 ft)
The most exciting day of the trek takes you towards Kuari Pass via Khullara. Reach the pass and enjoy breathtaking views of Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Chaukhamba, and other Himalayan peaks before returning to Tali Top.

Day 5: Tali Top to Joshimath via Auli

Distance: 25 km | Trek: 6–7 hours | Altitude: 1,890 m (6,200 ft)
Descend towards Auli, famous for its beautiful meadows and spectacular mountain scenery. Continue your journey towards Joshimath, enjoying the changing landscapes along the way.

Day 6: Joshimath to Rishikesh

Distance: 260 km | Drive: 8–9 hours | Altitude: 1,890 m → Rishikesh
After breakfast, begin the scenic drive back to Rishikesh. Enjoy the Himalayan views along the route as your memorable Kuari Pass Trek comes to an end.
