The trek crosses the spectacular Rupin Pass at around 15,250 ft, connecting Uttarakhand with Himachal Pradesh.

The trail takes trekkers through remote Himalayan villages, beautiful valleys, wooden bridges, glacial streams, and stunning campsites. One of the highlights is the dramatic climb through the Rupin Gully, where the landscape transforms into a breathtaking high-altitude mountain environment.

Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Dhaula

Distance: 220 km | Drive: 8–9 hours | Altitude: 5,100 ft
Begin your journey from Dehradun with a scenic drive through the Himalayan valleys towards Dhaula, the starting point of the Rupin Pass Trek. Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Dhaula to Sewa

Distance: 11 km | Trek: 6–7 hours | Altitude: 5,100 ft → 6,300 ft
Start trekking along the beautiful Rupin River valley. The trail passes through forests, small streams, and traditional mountain landscapes before reaching Sewa Village.

 

Day 3: Sewa to Jhaka

Distance: 12 km | Trek: 7–8 hours | Altitude: 6,300 ft → 8,700 ft
Continue along the Rupin Valley with a gradual ascent towards Jhaka Village. Enjoy stunning mountain views and experience the unique culture and architecture of the remote Himalayan villages.

Day 4: Jhaka to Saruwas Thatch

Distance: 8 km | Trek: 6–7 hours | Altitude: 8,700 ft → 11,150 ft
The trail climbs higher through beautiful forests and open landscapes. As you approach Saruwas Thatch, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with expansive meadows and impressive mountain views.

Day 5: Saruwas Thatch to Dhanderas Thatch

Distance: 6 km | Trek: 5–6 hours | Altitude: 11,150 ft → 11,700 ft
A relatively shorter day takes you towards Dhanderas Thatch, also known as the Lower Waterfall area. Enjoy the spectacular surroundings and gradually acclimatize to the increasing altitude.

 

Day 6: Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall Camp

Distance: 3 km | Trek: 3–4 hours | Altitude: 11,700 ft → 13,100 ft
A short but steep climb leads towards the Upper Waterfall Camp. The trail becomes more rugged as you enter the high-altitude zone, preparing you for the challenging summit day ahead.

 

Day 7: Upper Waterfall Camp to Rupin Pass & Ronti Gad

Distance: 12 km | Trek: 10–12 hours | Altitude: 13,100 ft → 15,380 ft → 13,400 ft
The most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Climb towards the spectacular Rupin Pass, navigating snow and steep terrain. After reaching the pass, descend towards Ronti Gad, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayas.

 

Day 8: Ronti Gad to Sangla

Distance: 12 km | Trek: 6–7 hours | Altitude: 13,400 ft → 8,600 ft
Complete the trek with a long descent towards Sangla Valley. The landscape gradually changes as you descend, offering beautiful views of the Kinnaur region. Reach Sangla and celebrate the completion of your unforgettable Rupin Pass Trek.
